Samphire Brighton & Hove CIC informs and educates people in sustainable and organic flower growing.
Since 2018 the social enterprise has been taking forward activities focused on promoting local growing as an alternative to the unsustainable commercial cut flower industry. Our project Hearts and Flowers is based at a one-acre site at Stanmer Organics in the South Downs National Park. We provide a welcoming space for local people with barriers to nature to take part in sessions designed to boost mental and physical health.
These one-day sessions are grant-funded and free to the community groups that we work with. Hearts & Flowers also has some capacity to provide volunteering opportunities with the chance for people to gain new skills.
Type of activities:
Sharing knowledge and hands on experience around organic flower growing. Crafts using natural materials, creative activities and mindfulness.
Specialist client experience:
Our experience is engaging adults experiencing poor mental health as well as those with autism.
“The different activities were a super combination as they had a short meditation to begin with followed by mosaic making. All the staff and volunteers were very friendly, warm and encouraging.
